The application of virtual segmentectomy based on three-dimensional computed tomography and angiography in thoracoscopic segmentectomy for children and infants

The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the efficacy anatomic thoracoscopic pulmonary segmentectomy performed based on three-dimensional computed tomography bronchography and angiography (3D-CTBA) in children infants. Totally, 22 patients received from October 2019 February 2020. procedures were virtual 3D-CTBA. preoperative planning depended 3D-CTBA result. All cases ( 1 left S1, right S3, S1 + 2, 2 3, S4 5, S6, S10, S9 10, 3 S7 8 9 10) successfully. mean procedure length 76.6 ± 17.2 min, intraoperative blood loss 16.5 2.8 ml. duration chest tube insertion 3.2 0.7 days, hospital stay 8.2 days. Postoperative complications included infection (n = 1), atelectasis hydropneumothorax 1) pneumothorax 1). No recurrence or mortality observed during short-term follow-up period months. Based technique, specific segments invaded by lesions relationship between corresponding vessels bronchi can be acknowledged before operation, which is positive significance for resection complex good surgical planning. It’s worth popularizing pediatric population.
